THE BAND
Singer and piano player Niek van de Klundert (NL) played all over Europe with several bands such as Mississippi Delta Brothers, JJ Cale Tribute Band and Wilhelmina Blues Band (house band of the famous Dutch blues bar café Wilhelmina). This summer he toured the USA and played several shows in Oklahoma and Texas together with his musical buddy Dylan van Meurs and several Oklahoma based musicians.
His nimble-fingered piano playing, based on the American honky tonk, western and boogie woogie tradition, has always been his trademark, together with a strong voice often described as a perfect combination of old country influences with a catchy bluesy edge. Since this year he’s touring with his new band, DR Nick & The High Rise, playing a collection of his all-time favorite songs.
DR Nick and The Rise turn every bar, festival or club into an American honky tonk saloon with their repertoire that’s full of New Orleans piano grooves, Mississippi blues, rhythm & blues classics and country and western swing.
